Kenai Fjords National Park

 

In August of 1985, I went up to Alaska to see my dad and my stepmom Meg.  On this trip we went to Kenai Fjords National Park that is located in Seward, AK.  We went on a boat ride to see the glaciers and saw a lot of wild sea animals.  It is summer up there, but it was still very cold on the boat.  You can go on a charter boat to take you around the national park.  It is an 8-hour ride and takes you around 100 miles.  I do remember they did have some soup on board to get warmed up.  It was a long day but a lot of fun.

The park within 20 miles of Seward, includes one of the four major ice caps in the U.S., the Harding Icefield, Glaciers radiating from 700-square-mile icefield continue to cut deep glacial valleys, many ending at tidewater.  The coasted fjords and associated offshore islands are remnants of "drowned" mountains.  Here a rich varied rain forest is to sea lions, sea otters, seals and tons of thousands of breeding birds, including puffins, murres and auklets.

Playing with Glacier Ice

 

One summer when I went to visit my dad and Meg in Alaska.  We went to Portage Glacier.  I got to play with some ice that broke off the glacier.  This was in July, so it was melting.  Here are some pictures of my dad and me.

This is just a simple layout of seeing Potter Marsh Bird Sanctuary in Alaska.  Here is a picture of me and Meg looking at geese.  I don't remember that much about this adventure.  Just reading the notes from the back of picture.

Historic Curran Hall

 I went to Arkansas in summer 2025.  We stopped in Little Rock before going to the airport.  We stopped at the Historic Curran Hall, it is the visitor center for Little Rock, Arkansas.  It used to be a home in the early years.  Here is a scrapbook layout to show off the house.

We also rode a trolly around some of the city and got some really good ice cream.
